Cast adrift in blogland

What do you think of the new design? Naw, me neither. Well not quite.

I’ve spent ages tonight playing about with all the design options, fonts, featured images, widgets, etc etc.  It’s driving me mental (though the distraction is no bad thing).

Beginning to feel old though – not a good sign when the specialists are telling me that being young (though I do like saying and hearing it!) will be a key aspect of my treatment plan.

Can’t say I had the best weekend mentally. Maybe* not helped by my beers on Friday night, given it was almost exactly one year since I’d last touched alcohol**.

* Mrs S would say definitely, not maybe… (oops!)

** As I keep telling the medics, I didn’t stop because I had a ‘drink problem’. Not sure they believe me… (hic!)

Kids, though, were in great form yesterday, getting to meet Santa at the Dobbie’s Garden Centre Christmas launch day. It was great to see their smiles and excitement – even though it’s still only bloody November (didn’t say I wasn’t Scrooge!).

With my scan and first round of treatment still a week away, Louise and I agreed that we should try and treat this week as normal as possible, and so far that’s proved a great idea.

We were all up for breakfast and I headed into the office, much to my colleagues’ surprise.  I, in turn, was pleasantly surprised that no-one had nabbed my special lumbar-support chair in my absence.  Expect that might find a temporary new home next week!

Normality, though, does also mean a few things that weren’t originally on the agenda for week-beginning November 23, 2015.

Got to be pragmatic – I need to write a Will. Been needing to write one for years and years and years.  Got as far as drafts from solicitors but never signed anything off.  Even after I landed on my head in front of a truck when I fell off my bike!

So it’s not being defeatist. F*ck no. But it’s just being realistic and putting right a wrong that’s been in place for too many years.

So if anyone wants to put down a claim for part of my estate, message me ASAP!!

I’ll also need to get my Christmas shopping done before the end of the weekend.

I have been known to be a bit of a last minute panic merchant when it comes to festive purchases (don’t ever mention hair curling tongs to Louise please…) so again, maybe this is no bad thing.

Anyway, time for bed – some of us have got work in the morning!

Stay safe.

A x

Andrew, loving the blogs. Keep the humour, don’t change, I look forward to your usual direct grumpy comments with a smile of course. I might even get round to giving you a hug when I see you, now that’s probably taking it too far! If there is anything the resilience community can do for you to raise the profile and kick ass to cancer, then let us know! Jx

I thought about giving you a hug Andrew but that’s a step too far. Loving the blogs and your sense of humour. A bit of a tough time ahead but you have the right attitude and I for one am sure you’ll stick two fingers up to this shitty disease. Lxxx

Finally we see something productive from you with this blog! Anything to avoid dealing with winter in resilience terms, typical. Not thought for the rest of us. Keep us posted but no soppy bits I’m a bloke. A lot of people on your side chief just remember to use them, just not me, eh.
